How much do I love a cozy casserole? Judging by the tens (hundreds?) of them that I’ve eaten, the answer is: A LOT.
There’s just something about these flavors and textures that makes a person feel good in their heart.
It’s light but it’s filling, it’s savory but a little sweet, it has a complexity of texture with a delicate, fresh crunch and an almost-meaty-like filling, and it comes together so ridiculously fast.
This is our most-made meal of the season.
1. Tuna Noodle Casserole
This tuna noodle casserole is a total crowd-pleaser, and I’m not even kidding. Think of it as a next-level tuna carbonara. Seriously, this is comfort food at its peak!
Here’s the deal: you’ve got egg noodles absolutely drenched in a creamy sauce that’s packed with tuna. That alone sounds amazing, right?
But wait, there’s more. The whole thing is covered with a breadcrumb and parmesan topping that bakes into a perfectly crisp, golden crust. Is this real life? I think so.
2. Pierogi Casserole
If you’re in a rush but still have to put a winner of a dinner on the table, this pierogi casserole has your back.
This beauty starts with potato pierogies as the base, then gets topped with bacon crumbles, a seriously creamy sauce, and so much ooey-gooey cheese.
That mouthwatering combination of flavors and textures is guaranteed to make even the pickiest eaters happy. If this doesn’t, I honestly don’t know what will. It’s that good.
3. White Chocolate Cranberry Dessert Casserole
Okay, it’s time for dessert! And let me just tell you, this one is a showstopper. White chocolate and cranberries are a classic combo, and while I love them in cookies, this casserole is on another level.
It all starts with a layer of vanilla cake at the bottom. Then comes a luscious white chocolate mousse with swirls of cranberry compote on top. This casserole is what sweet dreams are made of, for real.
4. Sour Cream Noodle Bake
If comfort is what you’re after, you’ve just found it. This casserole is way better than a giant hug!
You’ve got ground beef, tomato sauce, egg noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese, and cheddar cheese all in one dish. Just from that list, you know it’s going to be wonderfully indulgent.
Think of it like lasagna, but with egg noodles instead. The result is just so divine.
5. Broccoli Rice Casserole
Broccoli, rice, and cheese come together to make one super appetizing side dish. You can pair this with any meaty entrée for a seriously hearty meal.
I know the sight of broccoli can make most kids run for the hills, but trust me, they won’t with this casserole. The secret? The veggies are bathed in a creamy and cheesy sauce.
The kids will have zero problems devouring this one. Believe me.
6. Dump and Bake Chicken Stuffing Casserole
This chicken stuffing casserole is the very essence of comfort food. In this one delectable dish, you get tender and moist chicken, a creamy and cheesy sauce, and a crunchy crumb topping to bring it all home.
It is so extremely delightful, which is why it’s shocking that it only needs five ingredients and ten minutes of prep. This is an excellent way to feed a crowd without breaking a sweat.
7. Apple Fritter Casserole
Crescent rolls, apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon unite to create a dessert for breakfast that you won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Seriously, you’ll be dreaming about this casserole for days, maybe even weeks!
With its amazing flavor and texture combination, this easily makes it into my top five favorite sweet casseroles. I made this for brunch last weekend and it was a total home run.
8. Loaded Cauliflower Casserole
This casserole turns bland cauliflower into something outrageously scrumptious. If you thought cauliflower wasn’t exciting, you need to think again.
In this dish, cauliflower florets are mixed and topped with bacon, chives, sour cream, and a whole medley of cheeses. You should expect nothing but greatness.
And here’s a bonus: this casserole is keto-friendly. Don’t say I never give you healthy options!
9. Cheesy Potatoes with Cornflakes
With smooth and velvety cheesy potatoes on the bottom and crispy, crunchy cornflakes on top, this casserole is the stuff of breakfast legends.
Who said you can only eat cornflakes in a bowl with milk? Pair it with spuds, and you’ll have a phenomenal breakfast dish that is perfect for a lazy Saturday morning. It’s a total game-changer.
10. Shrimp and Grits Casserole
If you’re not a huge fan of shrimp and grits, just wait until you try this casserole. I promise, one bite of this deliciousness will change your mind.
This isn’t your average, bland grits, people. It’s loaded up with sweet shrimp, smoky bacon, tangy tomatoes, crisp veggies, and gouda cheese.
So if you were worried this would be boring, think again! Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.
11. Twice Baked Potato Casserole
This casserole is insanely addictive. You’ve been warned. If you love mashed potatoes, I can guarantee you will fall head over heels for this dish.
Mashed potatoes are loaded AND topped with bacon and cheese, then baked to absolute perfection. The result is a mind-blowing casserole that you’ll crave again and again. Thank goodness it’s a total cinch to make.
12. Cinnamon Roll Casserole
Start your day the sweet way with this cinnamon roll casserole. Just the smell of this baking in the oven will make you drool.
This breakfast-dessert is like cinnamon rolls morphed into a bread pudding. In other words, it’s ridiculously delicious.
And don’t worry, you don’t have to be a baking boss to make this. All you need are those store-bought cinnamon roll tubes and a few other pantry staples.
13. Turnips au Gratin
Potatoes au gratin is nothing short of amazing, but let’s be real, the caloric content can be pretty high. If you’re feeling a little guilty about indulging, how about swapping the spuds for turnips?
You still get all that cheesy goodness, but the calories won’t be as damaging to your diet. It’s the best of both worlds, right here.
